What’s An HVAC System?

There are many different types air conditioning and heating systems. Find out how they work together and what is best for your home!

A properly installed heating and cooling system is comprised of various equipment set up in different parts of your home. Usually, a system requires an air conditioner or heat pump located outside of your home and a furnace or air handler in your home.

  • Standard Split System

A split system is the most common type of system. There is one piece of equipment located inside the home that is the air handler or the furnace, and outside there is either a heat pump or an air conditioner. The system is controlled by the settings on the thermostat, through a series of switches or relays. Together, they provide warm air in the winter and cool air in the summer, circulating it through out your home.

  • Communicating System

A communicating system connects the equipment over a network. Each component has a unique electronic signature allowing one controller to make adjustments continually to ensure the perfect indoor climate and efficiency.

  • Duel Fuel System

A gas furnace and an electric heat pump paired together will allow your system to switch from electric heat to gas heat automatically.

  • Package Unit

When you put the furnace or heat pump with the air conditioner in one unit we call these package units. These package units handle both heating and cooling in one system.
