Why We Love Tankless Water Heaters (And You Should, Too!)
If you are considering buying a new water heater, you have essentially two options. First, you can buy a normal water heater, which comes with a large take for storing the heated water.
Your other option is a tankless water heater, which heats the water, as needed, on demand. Most people are more familiar with the tank variety, as this has been the standard for generations.
There are, however, many benefits to choosing tankless. Not sure which to choose? Here’s why we love tankless water heaters, and why you should love them, too:
- Unlimited supply of hot water
- Heaters last twice as long
- Save 20% on your electric bill
Never Run Out of Hot Water
The single biggest benefit of a tankless heater is that you are far less likely to run out of hot water.
The water is heated as you need it and then sent through the pipes of your home, to whichever tap is demanding it.
When you choose, instead, a water heater that has a tank, you have a limited supply of hot water, which might be as little as only a dozen gallons, depending on what type and size of heater you purchase.
We’ve all stepped into the shower after someone else in the home has already showered and been unable to access any hot water, as the tank of the heater is now empty.
You now have to wait, sometimes for an hour, for the heater to warm up enough water to have a hot shower.
Some traditional water heaters are so inefficient that they cannot even really keep the warmed water in their tank hot for very long.
If you do not use the water as soon as it has been heated, you are more likely to get lukewarm water, rather than hot water.
When you go tankless, however, you have an endless supply of hot water, and because they do not preheat and then store the water in a tank, there is no possibility of paying for heating water that is just going to cool off before you can even use it.
Along with the ability to never run out of hot water, tankless water heaters often come with a federal tax rebate and they take up far less space than a traditional water heater, which makes them the better option for small homes, apartments, and buildings.
Never running out of hot water is not the only benefit of tankless water heaters. If you want a water heater that needs less maintenance, this is the type that you should choose.
Because they do not require a tank to hold heated water, there are far fewer components that have the opportunity to break or wear down.
For example, one of the biggest problems with most water heaters is that they develop a leak or a crack in their tank, or that they start to develop a layer of silt in their tank.
A water heater that does not have a tank will not have any of these issues. Instead, these water heaters last about twice as long as your conventional water heater, and can last even longer if they are properly maintained by a company who knows how to maintain them.
And because your power bills are going to be much lower when you use this type of water heater, having it maintained is much more budget-friendly.
There are also a number of varieties to choose from, including both gas and electric options, so you can pick the one that will be the most cost efficient for your budget.
Super High Efficiency
If you want the most efficient water heater on the market, you will want to choose a tankless water heater.
Most people see about 20% less expensive power bills when they choose a tankless option than those who choose a water heater with a tank.
Instead on constantly drawing on power to heat and reheat the water in the tank, tankless water heaters use power only when there is a demand for hot water.
This might mean that you do not use any power for your water heater throughout the day and you never have to pay for heating and then reheating and then reheating again the water that you are not going to use.
Even if you require a large amount of hot water, a small tankless water heater can provide it. They are so much more efficient than their tank counterparts, that even a small unit is enough to service an entire household.
You never have to worry about stepping into a cold shower again or, even worse, running out of hot water halfway through your shower.
Tankless water heaters are also safer, as without a tank to rupture, there is no danger of an expensive flood when that tank ruptures.
Most people find that tankless water heaters work just as well for their hot water needs, and they come with none of the drawbacks of more conventional water heaters.

Customers With a NICE Experience
“I purchased my HVAC unit a year ago along with a Cozy Club maintenance plan. It's been running great and the customer service team is always quick to respond to questions. Today Rolando M. came by for the maintenance check and, as usual, he was neat, professional and maintained the COVID rules. He was also very nice, living up to the company name. I'm very happy with my experience with Nice.”
“I can't speak highly enough of this company. I requested an appointment, and it was scheduled for the next day. The technician was polite, honest, and a pure delight to work with. He didn't try to overcharge or tell me to replace something I didn't need to. He made service recommendations that were in line with industry standard prices so I could make an informed decision as he went about his service visit. Would recommend and will be using them again in the future. ”
“My technician arrived promptly at our appointed hour. He repaired a dirty and non-working gas fireplace. In addition, he found a small gas leak on our furnace line. Overall, exceptional service and quality work. I highly recommend their HVAC service.”
